Here is your poll for the island school's second term, set to begin Monday, 19 November. Please log in as the relevant pup to vote, and please vote separately for each pup if you have more than one involved in some way. Please vote even if you taught or took a class last term.

Note: Anyone taking any of the same classes as last term will be in a separate class from those taking it for the first time so they may progress to the next level/learn new material. Please comment if you think the teacher would have recommended you repeat the course instead of moving on.

Anne would be interesting in taking whatever university-level courses she could, I think. Except for geometry. :) And she would also be interested in teaching Latin.

Anthony has been conned into is interested in teaching History of Western Art (er, Earth, obviously), as that is his academic expertise. He is also qualified/willing to teach French (which is what he officially studied/taught at Cambridge), though he is refusing point-blank to teach children. But if there was an adult/university course, he could do that?

OMG how much do I want to see Anthony teaching French to like, 7 year olds? *DIES A LOT*

Okay, this is early(because I haven't even got the app ready yet) but at some point when I bring Jessica in she might be interested in teaching politics. That is if I can learn enough myself not to screw up too bady.

Meg has "inherited" Rodney McKay's Astrophysics class, since she is positive she can teach it better (and she's certain River can too). However she can also teach...probably, with a bit of help, any sort of advance maths and a few types of advance science besides Physics (like Biology).

Hee, yes. River and Meg will be taking over the Physics class. (Though River might not be up to it at the beginning of the term. Halloween is going to be really Not Good for her.)

Be afraid. :D

(And oops, I didn't log in as River. But me=her. :P)

Julian is interested in teaching anything he knows, pretty much. He can teach History, English and Literature up until 1934 at anywhere up to university-level (He had just been offered a teaching position in China to teach English and Literature at Wuhan University when he arrived on the island.)

Ben is awesome with kids, but he's trained in University-Level teaching. He taught Gay Studies at Carnegie Mellon and he is a writer, so he'd like to teach either of those at a University level.

Ben's degree is in Creative Writing. His experience is in Gay Studies.

Abby can teach Spanish easily and Italian with a little more effort, though if there's anyone a little more fluent who'd like to teach it, they are welcome to.

Calvin believes fairly strongly that there should be some science classes on the island.

I know that lab space is being used for all sorts of other things, but he could pull together a fairly coherent science class that would cover things like biology, physics, chemistry, geology, astronomy and the like. And then depending on where people's interests lie, they could go more in depth into certain subjects.

Date: 2007-10-15 07:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] abbysciuto.livejournal.com
Abby would be happy to shift things around so there was room for lab classes in the larger lab area. She is a firm proponent of there being more squints in the world...or at least less anti-squints.

Roslin wants to teach, but I'm really not sure what she'd teach. In canon, she teaches kindergartners, so I assume it's basic reading/writing/math. Since she's not at all familiar with any Earth-related subjects, I think that pretty much rules her out for anything else.

He's lived through 500 years of history, but Asher's squeamish around kids...

And it's early, I know, as I'm working on his app ATM, but Michael Scofield is a genius and could potentially manage teaching some sort of science (physics or chemistry) or math. Possibly even industrial arts, since he has a background as a structural engineer. He's fine with kids, too.

Eden would be interested in the drama course and in studying genetics science at a lower level; she's pretty sure she's not prepared for university level, but she's curious enough to take what she can get. Also she'd really like to work in the daycare during hours that don't conflict with her classes.

Veronica is secretly pleased they're moving on to University level courses - not that she's, you know, bitter she missed college or anything. She'd definitely be up for Eostre's course on Comparative Mythology and a couple of the literature courses. If there's an intro to creative writing course available, she'd take it out of curiosity and be pretty awful at it, which would be hilarious. And she definitely wants to continue her courses in weaponry; she'd also probably be willing to do a little tutoring with the new students, depending on who was asking.

Peter will be happy to offer practical and theoretical music classes on a basic and/or higher level.

He can also offer Italian as a subject to teach.

Abby says Peter can happily teach Italian then, since her fluency is entirely based on talking to her relatives rather than any experience in Italy or formal classes

Jamie has a lot of canon experience in a variety of fields but he'd definitely be well-qualified to teach physical education at the university level or otherwise. He's an Olympic gymnast, a Buddhist Monk (thus he knows all of those cool Shaolin moves), is well-versed in a multitude of martial art techniques and has been trained by several military institutions. He has also studied human anatomy and has basic medical training. He is also pretty handy with most weapons.

The Doctor would be willing to teach Uni-level courses in:
Earth History
Physics
Calculus and Higher Math
Modern Earth Literature (Enlightenment to Present)

and prolly a bunch of other things I haven't thought of. If someone would like something, please ask, as he prolly knows it.

Marian would be greatly interested in any university level courses in literature, or... Well, she'd like to see what's on offer. She's interested in quite a bit.

Anya is actually the same. She wants to teach accounting. Or at least how to run a small business? Okay, so she's awful.

Bran would be interested in taking university courses. I know we have medical students already, but if someone offered those, he'd try this time--he's been studying veterinary books and that's the closest we have.

He also would be happy to teach (or co-teach?) something on animal husbandry and such, since we have quite a few varieties of farm animals now.
